Lavender, water, essential oil, and any other sweet smelling plants?
Why floral water of course!
Pick your favorite sweet smelling springy scents, bruise them up a bit and put them into a giant test tube.
Then a little dab will do ya!
MMMMM, smells great!
Turning the tube upside down is also quite fascinating to watch!
This floral water doesn't keep very long, you would need to strain out the plants. You don't have to use essential oils either, especially if you are using a potent flower or herb.
Your posts make me so happy :-). Where did you find those giant test tubes with caps?
ReplyDeleteI bet the girls just loved this!

We have the same test tubes. They are so great!
the test tubes are from steve spangler science....click on the orange words in the post to take you there.
ReplyDeleteHave I mentioned before how beautiful I think your daughters are?
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the things I could make... today.... IF I had the test tubes or similar containers. BUT I don't. Damn it!
Your girls are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose test tubes are great. I got mine from Oriental Trading Company.
I was wondering if you could acheive the same results without the essential oils, but maybe more flowers??
Shady, no you don't need the essential oils, especially if you have a potent smelling flower or herb, my girls just put EOs in everything they get a chance to.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteGoose loves to make "potions" with flowers and water and glitter! I love the testtube idea. Your girls are too cute!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to try this. I don't have any test tubes like that, but I do have small glass honey bottles that would probably work. Elizabeth would love some floral water. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanna play. I'm going to make some lavender water-- how do you think it would be if I dumped it into the wash with my sheets?
ReplyDeleteGREAT IDEA Melissa! Oh, the smell of lavender weakens me in the knees, too bad my hubby sneezes at the scent!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this and so will my girls... the test tubes are great! Thanks for the wonderful idea and great new science resource :)
ReplyDeleteThat should be fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic activity! I feel so lucky my girls got to be a part - thanks so much for doing this with them! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe girls and I want to play at your house. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa-Mmmm. What a great idea! And all natural! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I don't have big test tubes but I have some large water picks for the rose stems when you buy roses. I think they would work. As soon as our flowers appear I want to try this. It's right up Sierra's alley!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all your great posts. I LOVE your blog!
Mmmmmm, I bet that smells so good!
ReplyDeleteOh that is just gorgeous. Any use of these beautiful plants only enriches our souls more...You are just lovely...xx
ReplyDeleteThis must smell so absolutely lovely!! Thanks for letting us share this with you.......
ReplyDeleteWow I think I will do that today with my friend.
ReplyDeleteWell that is just wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm thinking that this would be fun for my son to do as Mother Day gifts for his grandmothers.
ReplyDeleteWe love those tubes from Steve Spangler too! We bought them with some polymer water balls that are a ton of fun.
