O' Dandelion Song

O' DANDELION
O' Dandelion, yellow as gold, what do you do all day?
"I just wait here in the tall, green grass, 'till the children come to play."

O' Dandelion, yellow as gold, what do you do all night?
"I wait and wait, while the cool dew falls, and my hair grows long and white."

And what do you do when your hair grows white, and the children come to play?
"They take me in their dimpled hands, and blow my hair away!"

- by Marlys Swinger

Thank you D at Magic Onions for sharing this poem with me. For more dandelion fun vist dandelion cookies, dandelion syrup, dandelion prints and beautiful pollinators.

That is lovely. It must be a lot warmer over where you live. I don't think I have seen any dandelion puffs (not sure what to call them)yet.

Wow, I love that last "action shot" of the puffs blowing away.

you know the tune to this one? If you have the Wynstones Summer Book, the tune is in there and it really is lovely. Also, the Living Crafts magazine spring issue has a wonderful dandelion story to be told with puppets. I simply adore dandelions. :)

So sweet and I see by the looks of things you and your girls have been bored and unproductive :)

Don't know how you do it...but I thank you for all the inspiration!

Cheers :)

Hey Lisa- I was surrounded by dandelions this entire weekend! Can you believe that Jorge´s mother has made dandelion syrup? I´m so out of the loop! Now I´m off to check out your cookie recipe. Hugs! Jane

I love dandelions. I made dandelion syrup. Unfortunately I coocked it too long... it's not longer syrup. So every time I use it, I have to warm it up first. :)

We love this song. We sing it each year when the dandelions come up. It is from the Sing Through The Day: eighty songs for children book and CD set by Marlys Swinger.
Fantastic!
