Araina's Heavy Harvest

Araina wanted to do all the harvesting in the garden this morning. She harvested: Peppers and

Cucumbers, Araina was fascinated with the "Little White Pokies" on their skin.

Quite the Heavy Harvest for someone that is 6 and only 36 pounds!

Araina's Harvest:
2 Cucumbers
2 Squash
1 Artist's Pumpkin

8 Peppers
A couple snips of Stevia
A couple handfuls of Chamomile Flowers
1 Monarch Caterpillar and 5 fresh Milkweed Leaves for it to munch

Now the Little Ladies are in the kitchen enjoying the bounty with their daddy! More on the Monarch Caterpillar in a future post.

Wow! 6 and 36 pounds! That puts into perspective how huge my little guy is! Not even 2 and a half and he's 39 pounds!!!

Your garden looks fantastic! And it looks like she picked the best items!

That DEFINITELY was a heavy harvest! I'm jealous -- don't have a veggie patch, neither do I have green fingers to speak of :D

I love to see the children in the garden. For me, it's worth having a garden just to watch the little ones picking the veggies and eating them right in the garden. Yesterday the boys were fighting over the only ripe lemon cucumber. Fighting over a cucumber! Finally they decided to cut it in half. I love it.

There is only one thing better than harvesting your own grown vegetables - seeing your child do it. GREAT!

Come the end of August, I will be moving into a big old house (nearly 100 years old) with my friends for the school year. One of my friends that's living there for the summer rescued some plants from a store that was going to throw them out. We now have growing about 10 pepper plants and 6ish tomato plants. I can't wait to move in so we can enjoy the harvest and can the rest!!

Lovely pictures as always! How lucky you are to find a monarch caterpillar!
