Valentine Mushroom Brooch

How about making a little valentine mushroom brooch for your valentine? These little guys measure about 2 inches in length and width.

You'll need: red, white and tan felt scraps, red and white floss, tan thread, needle, scissors, pin backing and glue.

Draw out your favorite mushroom shape. My top is about 1 2/3 inches across, the bottom is about 1 inch across. Lay out the pieces to check proportions.

Stitch the bottom of the mushroom onto the tan felt.

Stitch the cap on to the tan felt, overlapping the white. A dot of glue in the center will keep the cap positioned where you want it.

Decide if you want a pink or white heart, one or three hearts and the size(s) of heart.....

Stitch on the heart, tie off on the back. This is what the back looks like now:

Trim closely around your mushroom leaving a small border. Now the front of your brooch is finished!

Cut around the front part of the brooch to make a back piece for the pin.

Stitch the pin onto the back piece. Make it look a little nicer with a little heart detail.

Stitch the back onto the front with a small running stich. Tuck that stich under the mushroom so it doesn't show.

Now you're done and it's ready for your valentine!

Let me know how you think this tutorial turned out, being my first, suggestions would be very much appreciated. If you make one I would LOVE to see it. ****Non-commercial use only please.*****
